Chrysalis Aerial Movement
Mondays
5:00pm Fit Flight
Expect to work/werk out with the weights/balls/bands/silk! Accessible for those with little silk experience (no inversions/tricks)
6:15pm Ballet Play
Half ballet/modern technique, half aerial sling; ballet translates VERY WELL into the silk! No dance experience required, but you should feel comfortable with the following moves: inverting without instruction in rope wrap, getting up into floating straddle, holding an L-sit at least 5 seconds. These prerequisites are here for your safety; inversions are not taught at this level as it’s expected you know them.
wednesdays
5:00pm Flexibility Flight
Build flexibility AND mobility in this hour flow class with a focus each week (eg outer hips, upper back, making space in the body, ect). Class begins with floor time, moves into functional patterning with the sling, and an inversion offered toward the end with savasana. This is your hour of movement research! No tricks but it is required that you can invert independently.
6:15pm Play
The most advanced class offered at Chrysalis - many students take at least a year if not two or three to build up to this level. Expect a short warmup outside the sling, a long warmup in the sling that oscillates between sling choreography and mobility/stretching designed to warm you up physically and prepare you neurologically for the final trick at the end. Crash mats are required in this class.
momentum sodo
9:30am Vinyasa Flow
A yoga class for folks who may not love yoga - expect grounding, a heat-building flow based in mobility and proprioceptive challenge, and gentle stretching at the end. This class can be super challenging or more of a morning-wake-up depending on which options you take. The playlist is always a vibe - from Jethro Tull to Glass Animals and everything in between, we can move to it all!
10:45am Active Recovery
A massage - IN THIS ECONOMY??? Join me for this experience instead: expect a gentle, 5-ish minute warm-up followed by facilitated self-massage/rolling with the tune up balls and foam rollers. We use the wall, and occasionally the floor, to get deep into our tissues to release tension, stress, and anything else magical you’d like to exhale. This is not a yoga class but a facilitated hour of rolling; while you’re welcome to follow your bliss, I will guide you on where and how to roll while managing time so all you have to do is drop into your body and listen.
We also listen to a different album each week for optimal vibes.
**You do not need to be a member to take yoga! Drop-ins are $20, no strings attached**
